Work. Meh.

I am not having a real good time at work these days. More staff cuts, more work, new department head, teaching a class, unwanted travel, constant misunderstandings with one of my bosses, an insane amount of cookie temptation threatening my struggle to lose weight. Bleh.

Happy thought: my in-house boss is going to be out of the office tomorrow through the end of the year. Yay! Play time! Well, a little anyway. I do like to watch T.V. shows on my laptop while working, but I still get work done! Mostly. Heheh. I deserve a little R&R, damn it! And today he is taking me to lunch. That’s nice of him. He does this now and again.

Okay, enough whining. Back at it. Meh.

I Want to be a Loser Too

*Disclaimer* This is a mobile post. You, the reader must forgive editing mistakes! Thank you, carry on. ~D

I have gained more weight than I even care to say since I quit smoking. So I won’t. Say, that is. I have consistently kept up with moderate exercise, but the scale still crept to ugly numbers. "Okay," I thought, "I need more exercise and I need to declare war on my sweet tooth! Fine. " And I have increased my exercise! But it still wasn’t helping. I tried to follow along with some Billy Blanks DVDs, but that man just plain bothers me. I have been trying to take the train more so I have the extra walk as part of my work commute and have noticed a slight improvement in my core muscle development due to my morning post walk exercise. I was still very discouraged though. Until last night! I found a Biggest Loser cardio workout on Comcast On Demand and loved it! You really, really get your heart rate up. The reason this one works so well for me is that it is designed for people who are so overweight that they can’t do a lot of jumping around. I cannot jump around because of the horrible arthritus in my foot, so it is really hard to find workouts that work me, but don’t cause me lots of pain. Hooray! And man, did it work me! I was breathing hard and even starting to sweat. I have hope now. I will get back to my normal and healthy size. I can do it!

Itchy B

Baloo woke me up at 2 a.m. Scratching like crazy. I think he got bit, ’cause it was just in one spot. Every 30 to 60 seconds, scratch, scratch, scratch. I got up and gave him half of a Benadryl in some peanut butter. I think it helped, ’cause I got back to sleep and he wasn’t itchy this morning.

Speaking of Baloo, I taught him a new trick. Now, as he is jumping through the hula hoop, he snatches his stuffed toy out of my hand just on the other side of the hoop. I just had a feeling he would know what to do if I tried it and he did! I have the best dog EVER!!

Lately.

I don’t know why, but I have been very low on energy lately. I am going to pay more attention to what I’m eating. I bet that’s at least part of my problem. I’m also trying to push myself a little bit harder on my morning exercise to get my blood movin in the morning.

I have to choose my next class. My registration is Dec. 9. I’m kind of torn because while I need more credits in the subject, I don’t like my technical communications teacher. She doesn’t really teach. I know it is an online class, but there could so easily be more “teaching” involved. I think I will take someone else for the spring semester and hope my current teacher is replaced. Ugh.

Baloo suffered through a grooming on Saturday. Poor boy. I can’t even get close to his feet, so I make him hate the groomers instead of me.

Rob and I are starting Non-stop Lindy Hop this Friday. Our teacher said we were ready to move on. I’m not so sure, but I’ll give it a go. We can always demote ourselves down to the beginner class again. I think we are getting it though. And then, it’s just a lot of fun. :)

New Aprons

I made two aprons and will send one of them off to Chicago as soon as my customer chooses which one she wants. I had two ideas for this fabric, so I made two aprons.

Habits and Goals

How do I get back in the habit of writing my blog?! Now that I don’t have that built in feedback system of my “friends” on LJ, it kind of feels like I’m throwing my words out into the great unknown. Who will read this? Anyone? Does it matter? Probably not. I’ll just try to start documenting my scattered and random thoughts again anyway.

I hate my online class. What kind of technical communications class can it be if there is zero lecture time? You would think technical communications would have a few video or audio lecture portions. But no. Basically, this online schooling is a structured self study thing. I have specific assignments with due dates and they get graded, but all of my learning comes from a text book. I am bewildered by this. How hard would it be to throw up a few lectures? Any idiot with a computer can post a video on youtube, but my technical communications class only has the text book as a teaching tool. LAME! I would just skip the whole stupid thing, but I do need those credits if I am ever going to obtain one of those paper things that says you accomplished some academic goal. Certificate, degree, whatever, one of those things.

Catharsis

I just deleted 339 emails from my asshole ex-boyfriend and 41 from my ex-metamore. My gmail is now purged of the both of them. Also, I have officially stopped reading his journal in which he oozes on about her and their joyous relationship and how much they looooove each other. Gag.
I know, I still sound bitter. I guess their mistreatment of me still burns a bit. I’m working on it…

Reel Words

Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken and William H. Macy. How can you go wrong with a cast like this? The Maiden Heist. Very, very funny movie. Watch it!

Bring Out Your Dead

Nesta's Day of the Dead Apron
Nesta picked out the fabric and lace for this one. I may need to adjust the pattern a bit. It seems a bit long in the waist.

The New Face: My Blog

It is rather daunting having a new blog home. There is so much to learn here! I think I will like it much better than Livejournal once I get used to it, but at the moment all the options are a tad overwhelming.
